About Us
Our vision...
…for an overflow of hope throughout Rukungiri, with positive and productive futures for individuals, families and whole communities
Our mission...
…to relentlessly pursue a holistic programme of activities that encourage, empower and enable individuals, families and whole communities throughout Rukungiri.
Our values…
We are Christian
Inspired by the practical example of Jesus’ life, we follow his command to love the Lord our God with all our heart and love our neighbour as ourselves. His character and teaching is embedded in all we do and, while we work with those of all faiths and none, our motivation and modus operandi is unapologetically Christian.
We value people
We believe in the God-given dignity, uniqueness, value and intrinsic worth of every individual – whether our staff, donors or beneficiaries. We are committed to honour all whom we engage with accordingly and ensure they leave every interaction feeling more loved than when they came.
We are good stewards
God has given us the resources to make a difference. We are committed to honouring him in how we use them – alongside all those who have entrusted us with their time and money. Our commitment to efficient resource management is the foundation from which we deliver maximum benefits and opportunity to communities.
We are partners
We know we cannot change the world alone. We are reliant on one another to know, to understand, and to act, as we accept the great responsibility of the mission to which He has called us. We maintain a firm belief of unity in the Body of Christ – while also remaining open to partnerships with all those who share our vision and values.
We are available and responsive
We realise that we might face a new and unique situation at any given minute, so we encourage innovation, creativity, and flexibility to determine the best course of action. We know that experience and sensitivity is required and we believe learning, reflection and discovery are a way to grow and succeed.
We prioritise the least and the last
We proactively pursue the most marginalised in society – the fatherless, the widows, the lonely, the prisoners. We reach out to those who everyone else has seemingly forgotten, we welcome them in with open arms, we love them as He loved us, and we give second chances.
Our Story
The vision for The Hope Collective began in 2016. Emily had been living and working in Uganda for a year, with Mission Direct and North Kigezi Diocese, when she began interacting with a group of street boys. After a few months of support and rehabilitation alongside Ugandan professionals and with the assistance of Rukungiri District HQ, they all began boarding school.
Five of the original seven boys are now in their fourth year of school and are doing so well, and reunited with their families during the holidays!
In 2019, the organisation was formally registered and recognised as a Community Based Organisation in Rukungiri district.
Since then, Emily, alongside local colleagues and organisation members, have identified a number of highly vulnerable chidren who are now hugely benefitting from the support of The Hope Collective.
We have now started planning for a number of different projects and programmes which you will see below, and can find out more about here.
