What is Hope Cards, and why?
Hope Cards is a social enterprise supporting women in Rukungiri, south-western Uganda who dream of starting their own businesses but lack the capital to get started.
Through Hope Cards, women are trained to hand-stitch beautiful greeting cards, creating a source of income while saving towards their business goals. Every card and multipack purchased helps turn their dreams into reality.
For some women, that dream is to start a piggery or poultry project. For others, it is to buy a sewing machine or make shoes. Each woman has her own ambition, and Hope Cards helps her take the first steps towards achieving it.
Access to start-up capital, business knowledge and supportive networks remains a significant barrier for many aspiring female entrepreneurs here in Uganda. Hope Cards seeks to address these challenges by providing women with an opportunity to earn, save and prepare for business ownership. Alongside practical skills and income generation, we nurture friendships among the women and offer mentorship, advice and guidance as they plan their next steps. We share laughter, encourage and support one another through life’s challenges, and celebrate together in life’s happiest moments.
When a woman starts her own business, the impact reaches far beyond her. She gains greater financial independence, her household benefits, and her community has the opportunity to grow stronger economically. Together, these changes help create a pathway out of poverty and towards a more secure future.

Who are the Hope Cards Ladies?
Meet the ladies below and see what they have achieved so far through the Hope Cards Project.
Zakia
Zakia has start a project of craft shoe making. She makes these beautiful shoes, from scratch, using recycles materials such as bottle tops and tyres.
Bonita
Bonita started a poultry project using her savings. She sold her first batch of hens, made profit, and is now on her second batch!
Liz
Liz built a piggery structure and bought three pigs. The first one is about to give birth – so exciting! Liz is helping to put her younger sister through nursing school, and funds from this project are supporting that.
Mackline
Mackline had to pause her attendance at Hope Cards due to her husband having a serious workplace accident. However, we were delighted to bless her with some hens for her work thus far, to start her poultry project and earn extra income from home.
There are also a number of other ladies who are still working and saving for their business capital.

Each multipack contains 10 greeting cards, and you can choose your own combination of designs from the examples shown above. You can select 10 different designs or order multiple cards of the same design. For example, you could choose three cards with the same design and seven cards with different designs.
To select your cards, enter the three-letter code for each design you would like, numbering your choices from 1 to 10. If you would like more than one card of a particular design, simply repeat its code.
